Thank You for Participating in Our 2024 Nature Photo Contest Nature Canada

Nature Canada’s annual Nature Photo Contest is a celebration of the plants and animals, landscapes, and nature moments that bring us joy and happiness. Our hope is to encourage more Canadians to get outdoors and to connect with nearby nature across the summer months. Canadian photographers across the country have submitted their artwork for a chance to win prizes and be featured in the Nature Canada 2025 Calendar.

And what a success it has been! We asked nature lovers to grab their cameras, head outside, and explore all the beauty Canada has to offer. Whether on a hike, or time spent in a park, or simply discovering what could be hiding in your own backyard. Participants have shown us that there is so much beauty in the wilderness around us and so much nature to immerse ourselves in.

The 2024 Nature Photo Contest is now closed and the winners of this year’s contest have been selected to be profiled in our annual Nature Calendar for our members.. A huge congratulations to our winners! The official grand prize winner is featured on the cover of the Nature Calendar and thank you again to all who voted online to choose the top winner:

About The Photo

“I had set out on an early winter morning with an image in my head. This is an image I have wanted for quite some time. We all know nature can be unpredictable and it requires a lot of quiet patience to get ‘that shot’. First obstacle was locating a very small owl. Imagine looking for a ‘feathery tennis ball’ in a large clear cut. Dressed in camouflage clothing and tucking myself into the fallen branches on the forest floor, I patiently waited. There’s a feeling of excitement when the owl lands right on the tree top in front of you and the backdrop is perfect. Breathe… click click, adjust the settings and click again. It has taken four years to get what I call ‘The Tree Topper’ shot.” – Sara King
